I’m proud to share that my work is included in the virtual component of Sculpture Space NYC’s “Rethinking Plastic: Returning to Clay” exhibition showcasing works from members of the International Academy of Ceramics. In this show, ceramic artists form a “collective reflection on material, memory and responsibility,” imagining “the idea of replacing plastic with clay.” The exhibition runs June 19 - July 18.
The work I have shared for the show is from a my series “Earthscapes,” which responds responds to the Earth’s swiftly changing surfaces in light of the impact of human intervention on climate change. The spherical forms and negative spaces are evocative of the current or future state of our solar system, and in particular our Planet Earth – whose surface is being degraded every second as humankind increasingly consumes inorganics, plastics, fossil fuels, and chooses not to concern itself with the long term consequences.
