Wind From a Butterfly's Wings: Sculptures in Clay

I was thrilled to be invited by Ahmedabad-based curator Khanjan Dalal to be the international participating artist in the 2023/2024 079 Stories’ gallery exhibition Wind from a Butterfly’s Wings. I presented my new series Earthscapes

In ceramic practices, emissions — like the flap of a butterfly wind— are easily taken for granted, but do adverse impact the environment as a whole eventually. The works in this exhibition reflect the artist’ own views and beliefs regarding climate change as well as how they themselves are reinventing sustainable processes involved in the production of their art. The smallest of flaps may create a tornado and the smallest of greenhouse gas emissions do add to severe climate change that we are witnessing, but awareness and reflection on the impact of these processes may bring us a step closer to actual technical change and development in the production of ceramic arts.
